Frank Lloyd Wright Robie House Dining Room

Designed as two large rectangles that seem to slide past one another the long horizontal residence that wright created for 28 year old frederick robie boldly established a new form of domestic design.

The exterior and ground floor of the robie house are accessible to guests in wheelchairs. These display geometric patterns a riot of dynamic angles and sharp polygons of colour that are abstractions of various plant forms. Wright punctured the chimney above the central fireplace that defines the living and dining areas so that the room reads as a continuous space ringed on all sides by stained glass windows and doors.
